Competition Procedure

Registration

Participants must register through Javafest Website in order to participate in the competition.

Screening Test

Registered participants will sit for an online screening test in this round.

Test Result

Screening test results will be announced and selected participants will proceed to the next round.

Group Registration

Participants will then be requested to form a group of two members to complete this round.

Project Proposal Submission

Registered groups will then submit their project proposal/idea.

Project Submission

Groups will complete their respective projects and submit them for evaluation.

Main Event

After evaluation, top ranked participants will be called for the Grand Finale to present their project. The very same day winners will be announced.

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm not good at programming. Should I participate?

Certainly! Even if you fail to pass the screening test, you'll still be able to access the programming resources shared with you for Javafest. Start learning programming by joining the community! Hopefully you'll become a pro programmer soon!

I've just graduated and got admitted into an MS program. Can I participate?

Only undergraduate students can participate in Javafest.

I’ve developed desktop applications in Java, but I don't know Java web application programming. Should I participate?

We still encourage you to participate. The contest duration is long enough to learn Java Web programming. We will provide all the excellent resources to help you get started in no time with Java Web programming. Remember, for Javafest, we encourage you to “Learn, Compete & Win!”. Learning is the most important part that Javafest focuses on.

Can we participate in the screening test in groups?

Screening test must be conducted by each contestant individually. No help from fellow people or the Internet should be sought. It is a serious violation of the contest rules if any such means is utilized to score better in the screening test.

I've passed the screening test, but my (expected) groupmate couldn't. I'm not familiar with anybody in the contest with whom I can form a group. What should I do?

In such a case, during the ‘Group Formation' phase, you can choose the option "I Want a Groupmate" in the Group Formation tab and enlist your name in the "No Groupmate List". Try to find a partner from the "No Groupmate List". Contact them and team up with them.

Who will have the copyright of the application development in the contest?

All the applications developed in Therap Javafest must be released under MIT license.
